O’ Christmas Tree, O’ Christmas Tree!

Here’s to the jolliest time of year in the Highlands-Cashiers Plateau! We’re curious, when do you and your family decorate for the holidays? Before Thanksgiving or immediately after? One of our favorite traditions is picking out a Christmas tree the day after Thanksgiving. We’re lucky to have many Christmas tree farms with the most beautiful and classic Fraser Fir trees to make our homes feel (and smell) festive for the holidays.

This year, we visited Grandy Mountain Tree Farm, off of Breedlove Road. This farm is owned by the Fowler family, Ron & Missy; they are the nicest people and take the time to greet and introduce themselves to everyone searching for their perfect tree. Their staff is also very friendly — you take them to the tree of your choice and they’ll cut it down, wrap it and secure it to your car. Make sure you bring cash or check in order to purchase.
